African Americans encountered many challenges throughout history facing slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and other forms of racism. Many relied on religion as their source of strength and endurance. Gloria Robinson Boyd is a doctoral student at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro where she is researching the contributions and ordination challenges of Church of God in Christ women. Gloria serves as both teacher and presenter at historical and religious conferences and events.
