Dr. Ibtihaj S. Arafat is a retired professor of Demography and Statistics at the City College of the city University of New York ; and a retired United Nations International Senior UNFPA Demography Expert, whose interests have encompassed women’s studies, family structure, fertility, as well as Middle Eastern Demographic trends.. Authors of several books and monographs, among her best known works are: The New York Women; Attitude, Behavior, and Self Image (1976); Social Research Methods; Puzzles and Solutions (1987); and Introduction to Modern Demography (1995).

Dr P. Chudi Uwazurike, also a professor in the Sociology Department of the City College, City University of New York, is an expert on social change and comparative development trends. Among his related works more recently, is Enduring Issues in the Development Debate (2008). A past senior fellow at the Institute for Research on the African Diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean, his writings have appeared in several journals and monographs.
