Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist, founding member of the Provincetown Players, best-selling novelist and award-winning short fiction writer, Susan Glaspell (1876-1948) has been recovered from the marginalization of women writers that took place in the post-war period of canon-formation in America. Carpentier is a Professor at Seton Hall University, New Jersey, and the author of Susan Glaspell’s Major Novels (University Press of Florida, 2001), as well as Ritual, Myth, and the Modernist Text (Gordon and Breach, 1998), and she is co-editor of the forthcoming anthology, Disclosing Intertextualites: The Stories, Plays, and Novels of Susan Glaspell (Rodopi, 2006).
